Dorothy Iva (Mosley) Norwood was born on March 30, 1923 to Minnie E (Wendt) Mosley and Clayton Mosley, and had a sister Patricia (Mosley) Weekley. She married Fred Lewis Norwood Sr on October 1, 1943, and had children Mozella (Norwood) Zeszortarski, Fred Lewis Norwood Jr, and Nancy (Norwood) Curtiss. Dorothy Norwood died at age 79 years old in 2002, and was buried in 2002 at Palm Desert Memorial in Las Vegas, NV.

In 1923, in the year that Dorothy Iva (Mosley) Norwood was born, the Teapot Dome scandal became the subject of an investigation by Senator Walsh and severely damaged the reputation of the Harding administration. Secretary of the Interior Albert Bacon Fall was convicted of accepting bribes from oil companies and became the first Cabinet member to go to prison. At the time, the Teapot Dome scandal was seen as "greatest and most sensational scandal in the history of American politics".

The man, Nathuram Godse, shot Gandhi 3 times. He died immediately. The shooter was tried, convicted, and hung in November 1949.
