  • Introduction

    Dorothy "Dot" Teele, her husband, Stanley "Stan" Teele, her sister, Grace G. Newman, and her children, Tony, Perry, and Melissa, lived in the Dean's house together while Stan was Dean of the Harvard Business School. The family was always close to that of her other sister, Ruth Eleanor Steere, her husband, Dr. Walter E. Steere, and their children, Eastman, Allan, and Meredith, who lived in Needham, Massachusetts, and retired to New London, NH. Dot loved to play show music and would create her own versions for various occasions. The Teeles and Steeres bought adjacent farmland in Bradford, NH where they had cabins and extensive timberland plus a creek. The Teele's built a large log cabin and several small guest cabins, and eventually, a large swimming pool.

In 1922, when she was just 15 years old, on November 4th, British Egyptologists George Carnarvon and Howard Carter unearthed the first step leading to King Tutankhamen's tomb in the Valley of the Kings. By the end of the month they had unearthed the steps and broken through the door into the intact tomb. This was the only tomb that had remained unlooted that had been found (and is, to date). Filled with gold, jewels, and ancient everyday items, the find was priceless - in terms of money and history.
