~ In Memoriam ~ Birth Name: Dorothy “Dottie” Louise Williamson Commonly Known As: Dottie Shover (family divorce) Born: January 17, 1939, Longview Washington Died: May 25, 2006, Fairbanks, Alaska Dorothy “Dottie” Louise Williamson - Born January 17, 1939, Longview Washington. Dottie attended Holy Rosary Catholic School and married Gordon L. Dudley, near Ellensburg, Washington, September 1957. Dottie gave birth to two sons Kenneth L. Dudley (length: 20.25” and weighing 8lbs 9.25oz) and Glenn L. Dudley (length: 20" and weighing 9lbs 15oz). Dottie and family moved to Fairbanks Alaska in 1971 (I remember the day the furniture movers arrived, they were quite interested in meeting our “sister,” after seeing the photo of our mother. I didn’t realize it then, but our Mom looked a great deal like Elizabeth Taylor, when she was young. Dottie began working at the old Market Basket located off the Steese highway in Fairbanks, where she was commonly referred to as Dottie #2. There were two Dottie's who worked at Market Basket then, Dottie #1 and our mom Dottie #2. Terry Mclean was the store manager then. Terry became a lifelong family friend; Terry was at Dottie’s bedside when she passed away May 25, 2006, at the Fairbanks Memorial Hospital. Dottie was highly intelligent and multitalented; she was a well-known Alaskan artist, as well as a cartoonist, painter, seamstress, sculptor, chef, baker, flower & cake decorator, musician (violin and piano), and much more. Dottie painted the "new" North Pole Santa Clause house with Santa, Reindeer, Big Dipper, Dog Sled and other characters. My brother Glenn and I painted the red stripes near the top of the roof, on the end of the building. The Santa Clause house has since been remodeled and likely repainted or touched up many times since then. Dottie was a business owner and an accounting controller for Tannana Valley Chief Conference and Doyon Corporation in Fairbanks Alaska. Dottie was survived by her sons, Kenneth L. Dudley, Glenn L. Dudley; her first husband Gordon L. Dudley; Sisters Pat, Peggy, Rosemary, Michelle, her brothers Mike and Gordon, as well as her many friends. Dottie joins her friends and family who have since passed including, her son Glenn Lee Dudley, sister Michelle, brother Gordon, and her friend Terry Mclean and others. Dottie (Mom) and Glenn will be buried (inurned) together with other Dudley family members (Grandparents, Aunts/Great Aunts, Uncles/Great Uncles). May you find peace in the loving arms of your heavenly father. “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted.” Psalm 34:18 “As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you, sayeth the Lord.” Isaiah 66:13 Funeral and Memorial Services are planned for May 29th, 2022.
