Douglas Daniel Walker passed away in 1959 in Carlton, Australia at 5 years of age. He was born in 1954. He was born to Daniel Patri Walker and Shirley Ma Wheelahan Walker.

In 1954, in the year that Douglas Daniel Walker was born, on May 17th, the Supreme Court released a decision on Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka. The ruling stated that state laws establishing separate public schools for black and white students was unconstitutional thus paving the way for integration in schools.

In 1959, in the year of Douglas Daniel Walker's passing, on August 8th, Hawaii became the 50th state of the United States. The US flag was changed to show 50 stars.

In 1960, at the age of just 6 years old, Douglas was alive when on September 26th, the first televised debate for a Presidential campaign in the United States - Kennedy vs Nixon - was held. Seventy million people watched the debate on TV. The debate pre-empted the very popular Andy Griffith Show.

In 1967, Douglas was just 13 years old when on October 2nd, Thurgood Marshall was sworn in as the first black US Supreme Court justice. Marshall was the great-grandson of a slave and graduated first in his class at Howard University Law School. His nomination to the Supreme Court was approved by the Senate, 69 to 11.
