    Marshfield News-Herald Marshfield, Wisconsin 07 Nov 1985, Thu • Page 7 Douglas R. Heimstead Neillsville--Services for Douglas R. Heimstead, 38, of 105 Hewett St.,who died on Tuesday, will be at 1 PM Friday at Calvary Lutheran Church, Neillsville. The Rev. Paul Forde will officiate. Burial will be at Warren Mills Cemetery, Warrens, where military rites will be held at graveside. Visitation will be from 7-9 PM Thursday and again Friday until 11 AM at Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville, then at the church for an hour before the service. Mr. Heimstead was born March 25, 1947 in Sparta, to Leland P. and Mary A. (Gilson) Heimstead. The family moved to Neillsville, where he attended St. John's Lutheran School and graduated from Neillsville High School in 1966. He entered the U.S. Army Oct. 6, 1966, serving in Vietnam, where he received the Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Stars and the Vietnam Republic Campaign Medal. He was discharged from service Oct. 4, 1968. After returning to Neillsville, he was employed by Nefco Filter for a few years, then, in 1973, became owner-operator of The Other Place Tavern, which he operated until the time of his death. He married Estelle M. Rand Oct. 31, 1970 in Neillsville. She survives. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Wilson-Heintz Post 2241. Also surviving are four daughters, Shannon, Denise, Heidi and Angel all at home; his mother, Mrs. Mary Heimstead, Neillsville; a sister, Nita Heimstead, Marshfield; and two brothers, Theodore, Elk Mound, and Gary, Oregon, Ill. He was predeceased by his father.
