William Louther Armstrong was born in 1895 to William Louther Armstrong and Catherine (Anstey) Armstrong, and had siblings Noel Armstrong and John Armstrong. He married Nita Elizabeth (Hunter) Armstrong on November 14, 1918 in Bendigo, Victoria Australia, and they were married until William's death in 1968. He had children Pamela Sturt Armstrong, William Hunter Armstrong, and Judith Ward. William Armstrong was buried at Altona Memorial Park, Dohertys Rd, in Altona North, Hobsons Bay City County, VIC Australia.

In 1895, in the year that Dr. William Louther Armstrong was born, on May 18th, Italy's first motor race was held. The race was 58 miles long - from Turin to Asti and back. Five cars started but only three completed the race. It was won by Simone Federman who drove a Daimler Omnibus - his average speed was 9.6 mph.

In 1925, by the time he was 30 years old, gangster Al "Scarface" Capone took over the Chicago bootlegging racket at age 26. Previously right hand man to boss Johnny Torrio, Capone took over when Torrio was shot and severely injured and decided to resign. The bootlegging and brothel organization was massive and when asked what he did, Capone often replied "I am just a businessman, giving the people what they want".
