Further information: Duncan Campbell McDougall, born Ensay Victoria but later lived Bairnsdale. Farmer. Enlisted to 4th Australian Light Horse Regiment and took part in the famous LIght Horse charge on Beersheba 1917 'galloped his horse wildly while brandishing his bayonet'. but was killed by sniper after this at Khirbit Erk in Wadi Imlieh 6/11/1917. Buried by fellow soldier, Lt J B Payte but grave is now unlocated. Details of lost grave are given by the Lt as North Bank of Wadi Imlieh, 063 . J22B west of the track crossing the Wadi. 4LHR war diary quote ' Trooper D C McDougall who showed great courage and keenness in carrying out observation until he was killed just before dusk'.
