The first photo I was able to find associated with this man was his burial stone which was found at the Sicily-Rome American Cemetery and Memorial, Nettuno, Roma, Lazio, Italy.

It was very distressing when I discovered I had a cousin who died during WWII. I knew of a number of family members and friends who were involved in that war, but they all came home with either mental or physical injuries. But never one who was not buried on American soil. I miss a man I never had a chance to know.

Later, I was contacted by E M's nephew who provided me with a copy of the last photo that was taken in 1942 just before he was deployed to Italy with the U.S. Army. I thank Dale Griffin for the photo.
