    My mother died July of this year. Six months before mom died she told me that my real father was a man by the name of Eddie Donnenhoffer who died when I was two years old. He died in a house fire. Mom said there was a big scandal when she got pregnant by Eddie in the late fifties. She left Terre Haute to have her baby but the twin boys died at birth. She stayed away from Eddie when she came back from Florida but inevitably they secretly got back together. She knew that she would not be accepted by his family but she loved him. When she discovered she was pregnant again she accepted the proposal of an admirer and got married quickly. My brothers are buried in Florida their names are listed under Dwight and Carroll Frey. Identical twins. I don't know what he looked like but I have Hazel green eyes, mostly green, I have light olive skin with some freckles. I would give almost anything to have met him. Just a picture of him to touch. Mom told me he was a great athlete and so sweet. I am in the process of becoming Catholic. Mom wanted to be but was stopped by her family.

In 1939, in the year that Eddie Donnenhoffer was born, in May, Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the first full-length animated film, reached a total international gross of $6.5 million which made it (to then) the most successful sound film of all time. First released in December 1937, it was originally dubbed "Disney's Folly" but the premiere received a standing ovation from the audience. At the 11th Academy Awards in February 1939, Walt Disney won an Academy Honorary Award - a full-size Oscar statuette and seven miniature ones - for Snow White.

In 1947, at the age of only 8 years old, Eddie was alive when on April 15th, Jackie Robinson joined the Brooklyn Dodgers, playing first base. He was the first black man to play in the Major Leagues. Since the 1880's, professional baseball had been segregated and blacks played in the "Negro leagues". He went on to play for 10 years.
