Edgar Calvin Call was the son of William Henry Call who was born in 1860 in Christian County Illinois. William H. Call was the son of Greenberry A. Call who was born in Kentucky, the son of Samuel Call Jr., in 1836. The Call family migrated here from England in approximately 1690 and were part of the Gloucester, Va. Old English area. Edgars mother was Nancy Denny Moyes Call, wife of William H. Call. Her father and mother migrated from Aberdour, Fife, Scotland and became residents in Harrisburg, Pa. before settling in Union Star (Empire) Missouri. It was there that William H. Call, an agent for the St. Joseph and Hannibal Railroad, met Nancy Moyes. They then came to Springfield as their final residence.
