Edith was a close friend of a good friend of my parents. I was too young to know her personally but found the story of her journey to her new life with husband Harry, sailing from Liverpool to Paraguay in 1941 on 'Avila Star' with the constant danger of being bombed, fascinating. In 1970's moved to Connecticut, later Boston, and Brattleboro. Friend maintained contact throughout her life and visited her in America several times.
