Doyle eventually wrote 4 novels and 56 short stories with Holmes as the main character.

In 1909, at the age of 18 years old, Edith was alive when the NAACP was founded by W. E. B. Du Bois. The organization focused on legal strategies designed to confront the critical civil rights issues of the day - which included lynching and segregation in schools.
