Introduction

Edna (Hill, her first married name) Vaubel was a housekeeper for Clayton Vaubel. She was raised in an orphanage after her mother died along with her siblings. She had one son named George with her first husband. She and George spent one winter living in a tent at Hilltop Park in Mankato, MN after her husband left them. Later on she became a “housekeeper “ for Clayton Vaubel. He had two sons, Robert and Everett. Edna taught Everett to walk as he was in an orphanage for the first three years of his life. At some point Edna went to Wisconsin to visit relatives. She came back with a baby boy saying that the relative could not keep him. Eventually it came out that the baby (John Hill) was hers and Clayton’s. They married sometime in 1945.
