He had siblings Donald Colin Cunningham, John Mathieson Cunningham, Annie Georgina Cunningham, and Margaret May Cunningham. He married Veronica "Vera" Federation Homfray in 1923, and had children Elizabeth Irene Cunningham and Robert Cunningham. Edward Cunningham died at age 83 years old on April 30, 1981 in Mentone, City of Kingston County.
