Ed was born in Brooklyn, New York to the late Herman and Rose Sloves Pollack. He is survived by his spouse, Mary Ellen Forestal, and his children: Dann Stuart Pollack (Anita), H. Scott Pollack (Franci), Joshua Andrew Pollack and Joanna Allison Pollack (Pascal), and his grandchildren: Rory, Harley, Scarlett and Julian (to arrive August 10th). He is also survived by Mary Ellen’s children, Douglas C. Forestal, Brad C. Forestal (Jennifer Forestal), Craig A. Forestal (Hoa Do), Natalie A. Bracken (Scott) and her grandchildren.
Military Service

At the young age of 18, he enlisted in the United States Army and was shipped off to the Pacific, serving in 1945 and 1946 in the Army Infantry in World War II. He rose to the rank of Staff Sargeant and was awarded a Purple Heart medal while fighting in the Philippines and Korea. Being anxious to return home, he turned down a candidacy for Officer Training School (OTC).
Professional Career

Ed began his studies, at Long Island University in New York. He earned his doctorate in 1954, at Indiana University Dental School, and soon opened his very successful dental practice on North Keystone in Indianapolis. He was dentist for the Pacers organization for a number of years, and earned the title, “The Singing Dentist” as he often sang to his patients as he worked.
Personal Life & Family

In his leisure time, Ed loved boating at his former home on Morse Lake along with tennis and racquetball. He was an avid reader and follower of the national political scene. In his retirement years, after 50 years in practice, he and Mary Ellen enjoyed many years of travel in Europe and the Caribbean, often travelling by cruise ship.
