He had siblings Lucy Orreteau Shamblin (1906-1973), Oretteau Shamblin (1906-1973), Sarah Vianna Shamblin (1909-1999), Lucinda Jane Shamblin (1912-1993), Joseph Conley Shamblin (1915-2006), Velva Juanita Shamblin (1919-1980), and James Franklin Shamblin (1925-2019). He was born on May 18, 1922 in Dorfee, West Virginia and grew up in Poca, WV. As a teenger, he resided in Elk, Kanawha, West Virginia. Edward served in the US Army from July 28, 1943 until his discharge on December 8, 1943. On December 29, 1956 he married Betty Jane Fisher Shamblin (1936–2004) in Charleston, WV. They had ten children together including Sharon Dillon, Dwayne Shamblin, Sue Freshour, Tammy Shamblin, Raybert Shamblin, Donna Shamblin, Paul Strickland, Sandy Strickland, Jan Shamblin, and Conley Eugene Shamblin (1949-2018) and the couple resided in Charleston, West Virginia, USA. Edward Shamblin passed away on April 26, 2007 in Charleston, West Virginia.

This is the last year that we had a family reunion, dad died the next year and we truly miss him. Dad would do anything for anybody. Mom died the year before and he couldn't live without her.
