Lawrence Keesler
My contact with Dr. Eigenschenk was a year of organ improvisation study at the American Conservatory of Music, Chicago in the mid ’60s. He had a repertoire of fascinating stories of his days as an accompanist for silent movies and more recently as organist of a large heavily-endowed but lightly attended church in a decaying neighborhood on the near west side. His skills at improvisation were many and varied. He was a witty, delightful and encouraging professor. Circumstances prevented my ongoing study with him, to this day a major personal disappointment.
