He was married to Mary Fitzgerald on February 12, 1890 in Washington, District of Columbia County, District Of Columbia, and they were together until Edward's death on January 26, 1931 in Washington. Edward Fitzgerald had children Louisa Fitzgerald, Mary Ashton Fitzgerald, Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald, and Annabel Fitzgerald.
