Edward James Bettinger was born on April 9, 1925 in Pottsville, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania United States to Edward Peter Bettinger and Abbie Frances Bettinger, and had a brother James Joseph Bettinger. He married Dorothy Theresa Bettinger in 1947 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, and they were married until Edward's death on July 25, 2010 at St. Joseph's Manor 1616 Huntingdon Pike, in Meadowbrook, Montgomery County. He had children Barbara Ann Boyle, Sharon Patricia Barron, Edward James Bettinger Jr., Mary Kay Speese, Jeffrey Scott Bettinger, Gail Hannah Boyle, Dorothy Theresa Bellezza, and Margaret Mary Marshall. Edward Bettinger was buried on July 30, 2010 at St. John Neumann Cemetery 3797 County Line Rd, in Chalfont, Bucks County.

    Edward James Bettinger was born on April 9th, 1925 in Pottsville, Pennsylvania to Edward Peter Bettinger (1899 - 1959) and Abbie F. McGugart (1902 - 1990). Both of his parents were born in Pennsylvania. He had one brother, James Joseph Bettinger (1930 - 2009). A member of the United States Air Force, Edward was a veteran of World War II. He flew B-17s in England and was a Chief Flight Engineer and Top Turret Gunner for 19 missions before being shot down in Belgium. Edward Bettinger married Dorothy T. Gallagher (1925 - 2010) in 1947 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They were married for 63 years, until the death of Edward. Dorothy and Edward had eight children: Barbara, Sharon, Edward James Bettinger Jr., Mary Kay, Jeffrey, Gail, Dori, and Meg. A successful businessman, Edward was a lifelong resident of Pennsylvania who died in Pennsylvania at the age of 85. He and his wife, Dorothy, probably also his high school sweetheart, happen to have been really connected, considering how they died within four months of each other.     BETTINGER, EDWARD J. of Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania died on Sunday, July 25, 2010, at St. Joseph's Manor in Huntingdon Valley. He was 85. He was the beloved husband of 63 years to Dorothy T. Gallagher Bettinger. Born in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Edward P. and Abbie F. McGugart Bettinger, and brother of the late James J. Bettinger. Ed was a resident of Huntingdon Valley for 53 years. He was a graduated of Northeast Catholic High School and attended Temple University. He was a proud member of the United States Air Force; flying B-17's in England during World War II and was Chief Flight Engineer and Top Turret Gunner for 19 missions, before being shot down in Belgium. Ed founded the Bettinger Company, and Employment Consultant and Staffing Specialist, in 1955 located in the Lewis Tower Building in Philadelphia and has been chairmand of the Board. He was instrumental in 1957 founding the Business Machine School which was the first in Philadelphia. Ed gave his time and talents to many organizations; he was a member of the Knights of Columbus, a communicant of St. Albert the Great Church in Huntingdon Valley, former member of the Board of Trustees of Holy Redeemer Hospital, and a member of the Union League, Philadelphia. He served two terms on the Board of Governors of Huntingdon Valley Country Club. He was deeply religious and his family was most important to him. His quick wit and gentle smile will be deeply missed. In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his eight devoted children; Barbara Boyle, Sharon Barron, Edward J. Bettinger Jr., Mary Kay Speese, Jeffrey S. Bettinger, Gail Boyle, Dori Bellezza and Med Marshall, also survived by eighteen dear grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Thursday July 29 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. followed by his Funeral Mass 11:00 a .m at St. Albert the Great Church 212 Welsh Road Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania. Interment private.
