Edward John Penhall was born in 1867 in Ballarat Australia to William Penhall and Jennifer Penhall, and had siblings Mary Ann Jenkin Penhall and Rose Jenkin Nanscawen. He married Clara (Bainbridge) Penhall, and had children Grace Emmeline (Penhall) Ward and Charles Edward Dean Penhall. Edward Penhall died at age 76 years old on September 19, 1944 in Murrumbeena, and was buried at Springvale Botanical Cemetery 600 Princes Hwy, in Springvale, City of Greater Dandenong County, VIC.
