    Edward Oliver French was born on October 21st, 1918 in Bronx, New York to Garrett A. French (1889 - 1950) and Sarah Ellen Shanahan (1889 - 1956) and he had two siblings: George, born in 1916 and another brother. On his October 1940 World War II draft card, Edward described himself as being five feet eleven inches tall and as weighing 145 pounds. He had blue eyes, blonde hair, and a "ruddy" complexion. His left index finger had been amputated. Edward O French married Caroline Teresa Farola (1921 - 1985) on July 29th, 1943 in New York City and they had three daughters: Barbara, Patricia, and Margaret; and sons, Edward Oliver Jr and Richard.
