Place of residence was listed as R.D.#1, Winfield, Union Co., Pa He was a descendant of Johann Michael (Lapple) Lepley who immigrated to the US from Baden, Germany. Michael joined the Pa militia and was scalped by Indians near Ft Freeland in Northumberland, Co., Pa and known as The McKnight Ambush. He left behind a wife and several children. His wife was eventually awarded his military pension details of which can be found in the Colonial Records of Pa Vol 15 1853. 858 minutes of the: in favor of the widow of Michael Lepley, Northumberland Co. militia, fifty one pounds, twelve shillings and five pence, for the period of 26 April 1779 until 5 September, 1786.
