    Edward Owen Adelsberger was born on August 9, 1949 to parents James Owen Adelsberger (1921-2009) and Loretta C. Sanders (1929-2004). He grew up with siblings Ken Adelsberger, Greg Adelsberger, Roy Adelsberger. He graduated from St. Joseph High School in Emmitsburg, Maryland in 1967. While in school, he was involved in CSMC, French Club, Latin Club, Basketball and serves as the Athletic Association President, Freshman Class President, and Sophomore Vice-president. Edward served in the US Army from July 19, 1971 to July 18, 1973. He was a SP4 in the US Army and is a Vietnam War veteran. He later went on to attend Mount St. Mary’s College, and the University of Maryland School of Social Work. He graduated with honors working towards his career and devotion to serving students with specials needs. He was the social worker at the at Rock Creek School in Frederick, MD for 28 years. He was married to Karen Warthen Adelsberger and they had children together Megan Adelsberger, Ben Adelsberger, Leah Adelsberger, and Seth Adelsberger.

    Edward Owen Adelsberger, of Emmitsburg, departed this life April 8 in York. He was the son of James O. Adelsberger and the late Loretta Sanders Adelsberger. A graduate of St. Joseph’s High School in Emmitsburg, Mount St. Mary’s College, and the University of Maryland School of Social Work, graduating with honors, his life’s work was devoted to serving students with specials needs. He was the social worker at the at Rock Creek School in Frederick, Md. for 28 years. He also served in the U.S. Army for two years. In the mid-1970s, he was director of the Emmitsburg Teen Center. During the 1980s, he served six years on the Emmitsburg Town Council as parks commissioner. During that time, he commissioned the Master Parks Plan for the town of Emmitsburg. He was the husband of Karen Warthen Adelsberger and also surviving are four children, Seth, Ben, Leah and Megan Adelsberger; three brothers, Ken Adelsberger of Biglerville, Roy Adelsberger of Emmitsburg and Greg Adelsberger of Gettysburg; and many nieces and nephews.

i knew him.....
he was the school councellor at rock creek from way back in the 70's on up until he died..i went to rock creek from 1977 to 1989.. i saw him again one last time early in 2002 and i tried again in 2004 and i went by the scholl to say hello again and thats when they told me
