He had siblings Mary Ann Dempsey, Gerald Dempsey, Eleanor Dempsey, John Dempsey, Thomas Francis Dempsey, James Dempsey, and Joseph William Dempsey. Edward Dempsey married Lily Feign in 1934, and died at age 69 years old in 1968 in Middle Park, Port Phillip City County.
