He had siblings Henry Francis Skelton, Frances Alice Skelton, Walter Charles Leslie Skelton, Ernest Skelton, and Mary Grace Helen Smithson. He married Elizabeth Oldroyd (Horsfall) Skelton in 1901, and had children Leslie Thomas Skelton, Robert William Charles Skelton, and Reginald Charles Skelton. Edward Skelton died at age 65 years old on August 14, 1945 in Buninyong.
