In 1914, in the year that Edwin C Gmach was born, in June, Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria was assassinated by a Yugoslavian national. Austria-Hungary delivered an ultimatum to Serbia. In 1954, at the age of 40 years old, Edwin was alive when on May 17th, the Supreme Court released a decision on Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka.
