Ekaete Okon is currently the Food Safety Program Manager for Harris County Public Health and Environmental Services (HCPHES). Mrs. Okon received her Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Health Studies with a minor in Environmental Health from Texas Southern University (T.S.U). She also received a Master of Public Health (M.P.H) degree from the University of Illinois at Springfield with specialization in Epidemiology.
Prior to her current position at Harris County Public Health and Environmental Service, Mrs. Okon worked for over four (4) years at the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC); where she provided disabled Texans with Medicaid and Children Health Insurance Program (CHIP) services. Mrs. Okon received recognition at HHSC for her contributions in reviewing of fraudulent cases and referring to the Office of HHS Inspector General (OIG) for investigation.
While at HHSC, Mrs. Okon served at the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) as Epidemiologist-In-Training where she was responsible for data analysis, reporting and recording of disease outbreak within DSHS Region 6/5 south. She also participated in a Community Assessment for Public Health Emergency Response (CASPER) services.
She holds a Physical Therapy Certificate from Pickhens Technical School and also Emergency Medical Technician Certificate from Emergency Consultant Technical School, Deer Park Texas. Ekaete is married and the mother of two children.
