Eldridge Cole Finley was born to Louie Sidney Finley (1903 - 1989) and Lema Lucille Fenter (1905 - 1943). Both parents were born in Arkansas. He had two full brothers, one of whom was Lewis David Finley (1926 - 2011), and two half-brothers. Eldridge Finley enlisted in the United States Army on May 15, 1957 and served until he was discharged on June 21, 1957. Eldridge C. Finley, 24, married Sue Ellen Clay, 21, in June of 1959 in Arkansas.
