Eleanor Gladys (Tweddle) Daley of Brighton East, VIC Australia was born in 1896 to Elizabeth Akhurst Tweddle and William James Tweddle. She had siblings Elsie Hepzabah Tweddle, Wilhelmina Elizabeth (Tweddle) Dickason, James Clifford Tweddle, and Ethel Sarah Tweddle. Eleanor Daley married Francis Stanley "Frank" Daley in 1927, and died at age 87 years old on August 18, 1984 in Brighton East.

In 1896, in the year that Eleanor Gladys Tweddle was born, in April, the first study on global warming due to CO2 - carbon dioxide - in the atmosphere was published by Swedish scientist Svante Arrhenius. Arrhenius concluded that human activity due to the Industrial Revolution would amplify CO2 in the atmosphere, causing a greenhouse effect. His conclusions have been extensively tested in the ensuing 100+ years and are still seen to hold true.
