She had siblings William Monroe Snyder, Betty Frances Elizabeth (Snyder) Holberton, Charles Morrow Snyder, Marion Bishop (Snyder) Stierwalt, Dorothy Sue (Snyder) Bristor, John Chaplin Snyder, and Robert Lincoln Snyder. Eleanor Snyder died at age 87 years old on August 18, 2003 at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery 200 Duell Rd, in Schuylerville, Saratoga County, NY.

    Eleanor graduated from the Lower Merion Senior High School, Philadelphia School of Office Training, US Navy Yeoman School and the US Navy Radio School.

    She had enlisted in 1943, US Navy Yeoman School and the US Navy Radio School. She served her country on the Staff of the Supreme Allied Powers, in the Office of the Under Secretary of the Navy and as an Executive Secretary in Washington, D.C. Her rank was CHIEF YEOMAN (CY). She received many Citations for Excellence, the Navy Achievement Medal, and the Top Secret Clearance from the Office of Navy Intelligence. She retired in 1972 from the Navy as an executive secretary in the Washington, D.C., area for various officers, directors and chiefs.

    Eleanor J. Snyder, 87 of Port Charlotte, FL. passed away peacefully at the Mariner Health Care Nursing on Monday 18,2003. She was born on January 21,1916 in Philadelphia. PA the daughter of the late John and Frances (Morrow) Snyder. After graduating from Lower Merion Senior High School in Ardmore, PA. Eleanor attended the Philadelphia School of Office Training. She enlisted In the U.S. Navy in 1943 and continued her quest for knowledge attending Yeoman School and Radio School, serving on Review Boards, the Staff of the Supreme Allied Powers, and the Office of the Under Secretary of the Navy, ultimately attaining Top Secret Clearance by the Office of Naval Intelligence in 1955. Eleanor worked as an Executive Secretary in the Washington DC. area for various Officers, Directors and Chiefs in the Navy where she received the Navy Achievement Medal and many Citations for her experience, wide knowledge of procedures, and professionalism. After retiring from the Navy in 1972. she moved to Port Charlotte, FL. Eleanor will be remembered as a very generous woman who sustained friendships with many people and coworkers. She loved animals and was an avid Hummel collector. Eleanor will be greatly missed by her sister Dorothy Bristor formerly of Scotia. NY, brother Robert Snyder of Philadelphia, PA., and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by sisters; Frances Holberton and Marion Stierwalt and brothers John, Charles and William Snyder. Committal services at Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY will be held, at a later date.
