She was married to Monroe Purcell, and they were together until death separated them. She had children Marcia (Purcell) Burger Skowron and Michael Purcell. Elizabeth Purcell died at age 88 years old on July 11, 1997.

    Elizabeth was the most unbelievable Grandma to us. She was a major part of our lives growing up, at all our sports games, school events, and everything in between. I have so many great memories of laughing, shopping, and her very funny sense of humor. She was a stern but excellent mother to Marcia and Michael. She was forced to raise them as a single mother when her husband suddenly passed. She was married to Monroe Purcell, who died long before I arrived but she remained in love with him until she was reunited with him in Heaven. Knitting and crocheting were specialties of hers and we were left with many of her beautiful creations. If she didn't like somebody, they knew it, she was not fake at all. If she liked you, you were golden! This world is a better place because she was in it!

In 1914, Elizabeth was just 6 years old when in only his second big-screen appearance, Charlie Chaplin played the Little Tramp, his most famous character. The silent film was made in January and released the following year. Of the character, Chaplin said: "On the way to the wardrobe I thought I would dress in baggy pants, big shoes, a cane and a derby hat. I wanted everything a contradiction: the pants baggy, the coat tight, the hat small and the shoes large." The moustache was added to age his 24-year-old face without masking his expressions.
