My grandparents George and Elma lived in separt houses for the last years of their lives due to some problem they had had in the past. But never far from one another. When Elma moved from Lake Charles, LA to Houston, Tx, George moved also, 3 homes down from her. She lived on White Oak street across from what is now a Bar/Club Fitzgerald s. The home is gone now. The little Ice House across to the side of where her home was is still there as of 2014.
All I had heard growing up was that my father George Jr was not Elmas child. He was the product of an affair George Sr had had. But Elma raised him. But would not allow George Sr. to live in the same house. But did stipulate he had to be near for financial reasons.
