He married Eliza Savilla (Smith) Keeney, and they had children Raymond Lavon Keeney, Harley Virgil Keeney, Lon Arthur Keeney, Laura Elizabeth Keeney, Hazel Vera Keeney, Ethel Mae (Weakland) Keeney, Eliza Ardys Keeney, Elmer Arden Keeney, and Anna Mae Keeney. He also married Eliza Savilla (Smith) Keeney, and they had children Raymond Lavon Keeney, Harley Virgil Keeney, Lon Arthur Keeney, Laura Elizabeth Keeney, Hazel Vera Keeney, Eliza Ardys Keeney, Elmer Arden Keeney, and Anna Mae Keeney. Elmer Keeney died at age 62 years old on June 10, 1931 in Des Moines.

Done some back tracking on my great grandmother, Elmer Julia Keeney Pinkston, and discovered that her great great grandfather Peter and Elmer Ashley’s great grandfather John are brothers. Small world. So awesome to see relatives even if it is a little distant. Apparently the name “Elmer” carried on. I have an aunt whose first name is “Elmer”.
