The Daily Oklahoman - 29 Nov 1999 Elsa Lucila Farman, Major USMC (Ret.), died November 22, 1999. She was 64. Elsa was born October 4, 1935 in Dallas, Texas, to Carl and Elsa Farman. She was an Attorney and a CPA, and was active in her parish of the Catholic Church of the Epiphany. Elsa entered the US Marine Corps in 1956 and served her country for 20 years, including duty in Paris, France and Headquarters Marine Corps, Wash., D.C. Her final active duty assignment was Executive Officer of the Marine Corps Engineer Schools. She earned a B.A. and an M.A. in Political Science. After retiring from the Marine Corps, Elsa earned an M.S. in Accounting (with high honors), and a Juris Doctor from Oklahoma City University (first in class) in 1981. She operated her own law and accounting practice for 16 years in OKC. Elsa received many honors and recognitions. She spoke Spanish, French and Italian, and she was a private pilot. She has been lecturing nationwide on the Shroud of Turin since 1977. She was name in Outstanding Young Women of America, National Register of Prominent Americans, and was honored with ceremony and medallion by the French Government on occasion of preparation for and participation in the 20th anniversary of Normandy landings, 1964. Her professional affiliations included the OklahomaBar Association, Oklahoma Society of CPA's and The Retired Officer's Association. She was National Parliamentarian and Treasurer for the OK-2 Chapter of the Women Marines Association. She had been a board member of the Ethics Committee of Mercy Hospital,and until her death served on the board of Oklahaven Children's Chiropractic Center. She was a member of the Scandinavian Club. Elsa served as member of the Epiphany Parish Council, as a Eucharistic Minister and Lector, and she was a member of the Lay Women's Association. Through her faith, she shared a special bond with her dear friends Tom and Mary Lesher and their family. Elsa was taken quickly to God after a heart attack November 21 which occurred while she was visiting in Colorado and was in the loving presence of her beloved friend Mary Blume and Mary's family. She is survived by her sister, Christina Farman of San Diego, CA; her cousin, Denis Shevlin, and her aunt, Joan Farman, of San Diego. Elsa, thank you for your steadfast example of devotion to Christian spiritual values, your vibrant laughter and humor, and your deep love. You will be deeply missed by so many, especially your sister, Christina. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 A.M., Monday, November 29, 1999, at Church of the Epiphany, OKC. Interment will be at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, San Diego, CA.
