He was married to Emma Wallerman nee Schumacher in Appleton, Outagamie County United States, and had children Lowell D Wallerman, Bonnie Wallerman nee Lembcke, Eunice Wallerman nee Bowden, and Walter W Wallerman. Emil Wallerman died at age 75 years old in September 1975.

In 1900, in the year that Emil Wallerman was born, Carrie Chapman Catt succeeded Susan B. Anthony as the president of the National American Woman Suffrage Association. NAWSA was created by Anthony in 1890 in order to fight for the right of women to vote in the United States. Membership in NAWSA began at 7,000 and in the decades of the struggle - women didn't get the right to vote until 1920 - membership rose to 2 million.

In 1937, he was 37 years old when on May 6th, the German zeppelin the Hindenburg caught fire and blew up. The Hindenburg was a passenger ship traveling to Frankfurt Germany. It tried to dock in New Jersey, one of the stops, and something went wrong - it blew up. Thirty-six people were killed out of the 97 on board - 13 passengers, 22 crewmen, and one ground worker. The reasons for the explosion are still disputed.
