Emile enlisted on November 18, 1942 in Fort Devens Massachusetts and served in the U.S. Army as part of a tank crew during WWII and fought in the famous battle of the bulge (December 16, 1944 – January 25, 1945) in the Ardennes region of Europe. At that time he was about thirty years old.

    Emil was originally from Lawrence, MA and served in the U.S.Army as part of a tank crew during WWII. He fought in the famous battle of the bulge (December 16, 1944 – January 25, 1945) in the Ardennes region of Europe which spans three countries. At that time he was about thirty years old. He survived that battle and the war to return home an example of heroism to all who knew him. He has one child, a son Dennis Decauwer.
