Emile Henry Painchaud Sr. was born on October 25, 1926 in Leicester, Worcester County, Massachusetts United States to Laura Emma (Gilbert) Painchaud-L'aroque and Victor Emile Painchaud, Jr., and had siblings Rita Viola (Painchaud) Allen-Banbury, Florence Delia (Painchaud) Hess, Dorothy Emma (Painchaud) Hebert, and Mildred E. (Painchaud) Hardin. He married Arlene M. (Donabedian) Painchaud, and had children Emile Henry Painchaud, Jr., Richard J. Painchaud, Linda M. (Painchaud) Sanderson, and Grace Painchaud. Emile Painchaud died at age 67 years old on May 21, 1994 in Worcester.

In 1926, in the year that Emile Henry Painchaud, Sr. was born, on October 31st, Harry Houdini died in Michigan. Houdini was the most famed magician of his time and perhaps of all time, especially for his acts involving escapes - from handcuffs, straitjackets, chains, ropes slung from skyscrapers, and more.
