Enid Hilda (Nagel) McMullan of Swan View, WA Australia was born on March 20, 1914 in North Perth to Harry Nagel and Ethel (Symons) Nagel. She married James McDowell McMullan on January 15, 1938, and they were married until James' death on June 9, 1989. She had children Ian James McMullan, Richard Keith McMullan, and Robert Francis McMullan. Enid McMullan died at age 77 years old on January 31, 1992 at Swan Districts Hospital in Midland, City of Swan County, and was buried in February 1992 at Midland Cemetery in Midland.

In 1914, in the year that Enid Hilda (Nagel) McMullan was born, President Woodrow Wilson signed a proclamation designating Mother's Day, the second Sunday in May, as a national holiday to honor mothers. Anna Jarvis had championed a Mother's Day for years but Congress had joked a few years earlier that then they would have to proclaim a "Mother-in-law's Day" as well. The President who championed a woman's right to vote also created a day in their honor.

Poland expected help from France and the United Kingdom, since they had a pact with both. But no help came. By October 6th, the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany held full control of the previously Polish lands. Eventually, the invasion of Poland lead to World War II.
