Introduction

He abandoned his young family leaving his wife to care for 4 young children. His eldest daughter made a statement to the police that he had raped her repeatedly from the age of 7. After an acrimonious divorce he disappeared until his elderly relatives began to approach the end of their lives. Whereupon he would resume contact in the hope he would inherit something from them. He didn't. He has grandchildren who have never seen him because he poses too great a risk of sexual abuse to them.

In 1937, in the year that Eric Jeffery Siviter was born, on May 6th, the German zeppelin the Hindenburg caught fire and blew up. The Hindenburg was a passenger ship traveling to Frankfurt Germany. It tried to dock in New Jersey, one of the stops, and something went wrong - it blew up. Thirty-six people were killed out of the 97 on board - 13 passengers, 22 crewmen, and one ground worker. The reasons for the explosion are still disputed.
