Introduction

Ernest is my grandmother’s brother. Ernest served with the 36th Ulster Division in WW1. He died of his wounds in a field hospital a few weeks after being injured. He was married and had a son, Ernest. I am not sure if he even met his son. He is buried at Baileau in the small military cemetery which is an annex of the village cemetery. I have visited his grave.
