  • Introduction

    Ernest was born in Galgate Lancashire on 28th July 1919. The only son of Ernest James Stibbons and Deborah Anne Stibbons (nee Whiteside) known as Annie. Ernest had an older sister Dorothy Wilcocks, (nee Stibbons, my Grandmother), born 1915 Kirkham, Lancashire. Ernest was a police boy Clerk in Lancashire Constabulary (seaforth, Liverpool) then at 19 years old became a Police Constable first stationed in Garstang on 18th June 1939 then on 14th Jan 1940 Manchester. On the 20th August 1942 Ernest was called up for service in WW2 under the terms of the police and fireman war service act 1939. Ernest was killed in Action in Italy on 14th September 1944 aged 25 years.
