Ernesto Boullerci Valentin was born on August 7th, 1910 to Francisco Bonillerse y Ferre (1881 - 1970) and Juana Valentin y Colon De Bouillerce (1873–1916). Both of Ernesto's parents had been born in Puerto Rico. He had seven half-siblings: Larenzo, Juan, Herminia, Natividad, Josefina, Clemente, and Antonia Quinonez y Valentin. Ernesto Valentin married Gloria Maria Figueroa Rodriguez on March 20, 1937 in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico. They later moved to New York City, where Ernesto remained until the age of 59, when he moved back to Puerto Rico. Ernest died in Puerto Rico at the age of 62.

Ernesto was born in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico and was born of French/Hispanic parents who were also born in Puerto Rico. His paternal grandfather was born in France, as was his paternal great grandfather, Jean Bouillerce. His maternal line went back in Puerto Rico for two generations.

Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Ernesto moved to New York city along with his wife, Gloria, when he was 26 years old. In the 1930 Federal Census, he stated that he had completed the 8th grade. He moved back to Puerto Rico when he was 59 years old, where he died at the age of 62.

While Ernesto was living in New York City, he worked as a kitchen helper in a restaurant.

Ernesto, who used the surname Bouillerce on his 1940 World War II draft card, said that his date of birth was August 7th, 1910. He was 30 years old and living in New York, New York at 318 East 113th Street, Apartment D. He was married to Gloria and working at Hector Restaurant in New York City. Hector was reported to be 5 feet 6 inches in height and as weighing 139 pounds. He had brown eyes, black hair, and a "dark" complexion.
