Esther Margaret (Fitzgerald) Chatfield was born in 1903 to James Redmon Fitzgerald and Mary Ellen Fitzgerald ( Sutherland, and had siblings Ernest Charles Fitzgerald, Frederick James Fitzgerald, James Francis Fitzgerald, and Mary Ellen "Ella"Fitzgerald. She married Edgar Francis Chatfield, and had a child John Leonard Chatfield. Esther Chatfield died at age 43 years old on February 17, 1947 at Prince Henry's Hospital in Melbourne, VIC Australia, and was buried at Cheltenham Cemetery in Cheltenham, Bayside City County.
