In 1914, in the year that Ethel E Leibig was born, in August, the world's first red and green traffic lights were installed at the corner of East 105th Street and Euclid Avenue in Cleveland Ohio. The electric traffic light had been invented by a policeman in Salt Lake City Utah in 1912.

In 1925, at the age of just 11 years old, Ethel was alive when gangster Al "Scarface" Capone took over the Chicago bootlegging racket at age 26. Previously right hand man to boss Johnny Torrio, Capone took over when Torrio was shot and severely injured and decided to resign. The bootlegging and brothel organization was massive and when asked what he did, Capone often replied "I am just a businessman, giving the people what they want".

Pearl Harbor - A Day That Will Live In Infamy
On Sunday, December 7th 1941, the Japanese nation launched a surprise attack on Pearl Harbor, a U.S. naval base in Hawaii. On Monday December 8th, President Franklin Roosevelt addressed a joint session of Congress, calling the attack "a date which will live in infamy". An hour later Congress declared war on Japan - thus entering World War 2 and a war against all the Axis powers. These photos below are from the actual attack, and show the destruction, hurt, and sorrow on this day that has lived in infamy.
