Warren and Leland Howard Wakefield, and had siblings Leland Warren Wakefield, William Howard Wakefield, Lily Wakefield, Rose Wakefield, Violet Wakefield, and Leland Henry Wakefield. She married Andrew McLellan Wolfenden, and had children Leland Edward Wolfenden and Helen Wolfenden. Etta Wakefield died at age 72 years old on November 21, 1946 in Berkeley, and was buried on December 6, 1946 at Mountain View Cemetery in Oakland.

In 1874, in the year that Etta C. Wakefield was born, on September 14th, the Battle of Liberty Place occurred in New Orleans - the capital of Louisiana. Some members of the previous Confederate Army assembled for the purpose of "driving the usurpers from power" and the Republican Governor - William P. Kellogg - was physically driven from his office. The former Confederates temporarily replaced him with (the former) Democratic Governor John McEnery. Federal forces arrived, put down the insurrection, and five days later the legally elected government was restored.

In 1906, when she was 32 years old, the great San Francisco earthquake hit, estimated at 7.8 on the Richter scale. The earthquake caused fires that raged for days and between the earthquake and the fire, about 3,000 people were killed and 80% of the City was destroyed.
