Eugene Ed Gehrke was born on June 23, 1941 in Shady Grove, KS to Edwin Bernard Gehrke and Dorothy Mary (Bickel) Gehrke, and has siblings Roslyn Dorothy (Gehrke) Mars, Carol Sue (Gehrke) Briggerman, and Mary Louise (Gehrke) Selover. He married Shirley Jo (Brewer) Gehrke on February 7, 1963 in Simi Valley, CA County, and they were married until Shirley's death on November 13, 1968. They had children LeRoy Eugene Gehrke, Harold Gene Gehrke, and Randy Lynn Gehrke. He would also marry Kathryn Marie (Young) Gehrke on March 20, 1970 in Simi Valley, CA.
