Eugene (Gene) Edward Jones was born on October 31, 1930 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Jenkin Clyde Jones and Martha Dilbeck-Jones. He passed away on February 15, 2013 in Fullerton, California. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Y. Jones; his son, Alan Jones; his 5 daughters, Linda Lewis, Linda Rebrovich, Debra Rogers, JoAnne Williams, and Nancy Dennis; his surviving brothers, Beryl Jones and Donald Jones and Donald's wife Ruth Jones; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great- grandchildren.
Gene graduated from Torrance High School in June 1948 and lettered in Football. Gene served in the U.S. Navy in the 1950s and went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from University of California at Berkeley. He later earned his Masters of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from California State University at Fullerton. He taught college level physics courses and worked as an engineer in the aerospace industry for most of his life until he retired from Hughes Aircraft in 1989.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Fullerton, 838 N. Euclid St., Fullerton, CA 92832 on Friday, March 8, 2013 at 11:00 a.m.
