He had completed four years of high school and worked within the industry of semiskilled machine shop and related occupations, N.e.c.at the time of his enlistment. Eugene registered for the military on June 27, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois, USA. He was assigned to the Army Enlistment Branch and subsequently enlisted in the Air Corps on December 12, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois, during World War II. At the time of his enlistment, he was a private in the Army of the United States, and his terms of enlistment were "for the duration of the war or other emergency, plus six months, subject to the discretion of the President or otherwise according to law." His rank was a Private during his military service and served until January 15, 1946. Wojton later re-enlisted on January 11, 1950, again under the Army Enlistment Branch. He was discharged on June 2, 1950. Eugene Walter Wojton passed away at the age of 82 on December 16, 2005.
