Mrs. Mullin and I would sit around for hours on end when I was a little boy (early 1970's) and talk about so many historical events. She lived at 293 S. Coy street, in KCK. I always admired her. We became quick friends as I grew up. I later became close to her step son, Architect Charles Edward Mullin III, his wife Irene, daughter Maggie, Son Charles, etc. I was about 11 years old when Mr. Mullin had to place her in a facility in Concordia, Ks. due to her inability to continue to live alone. I carried the guilt of that decision with me for most of my life, until I was old enough to fully understand that it was the right decision. I came to see Mrs. Mullin every afternoon as a child. One day I came to see her and she had fallen and couldn't get up. She had been that way all day but she KNEW I'd be by after school. When I arrived, to no answer, I could hear her screaming my name. I ran home and my Mom called the Police ( no 911 in 1979). I still remember the first time I'd ever met a policeman was that day. His name was officer Wiltrout, and he was in Patrol car # 110. Shortly after that day, Mr. Mullin ( her Son) removed her from the home and placed her in Concordia. I never saw Mrs. Mullin again, but I still have many of the numerous letters we exchanged via U.S. Mail during her time in Concordia. She was a very swet lady! I still think of her to this day. She used a walker, was "bent over" at the waist due to a car accident she had suffered years earlier. She was a retired school teacher. At least thats what I remembered her telling me. As soon as I figure out how to upload a photo of her, I will. This page deserves to have a face to go with the fabulous story of this lady's life! ~Michael A. Aguilar Kansas City, Kansas
