  • Introduction

    Eva Marie Cummins Paddison's mother was Eva Margaret (Crowe) Pierce Cummins (1868 - 1943) and her father was Robert Beatty Cummins (1873 -1950). She had siblings Robert, Winnard, and Theodore and half siblings Martha, Leon, Lillian, and LeRoy. When Eva was 17, she was living with her family in Culdesac, Idaho, and her father was a printer at a newspaper Eva married two times, the first time to Walter LeRoy Keyser (1903 - 1946), a missionary for the Baptist Church. They were married in 1935 in Burma and they had one son, Jan Peter Keyser (1936 - 2019), who was born in New Jersey. She then married Arthur David Paddison (1882 - 1976). Eva moved around a lot in her life, being born in Washington state, and growing up in Washington and Idaho. She attended college in Oregon and grad school in Berkeley, California. In between college and grad school, she taught school in Wrangell, Alaska. After grad school, she became a missionary in Burma and married another missionary. Their son was born in New Jersey. Eva eventually returned to Yakima County in Washington state where she passed away.

    The following is a memorial to Eva contributed to Find A Grave: Eva Marie Cummins was born to Eva Margaret (Crowe) Pierce Cummins and Robert Beatty Cummins at Touchet, Washington. She graduated from Linfield College in 1924 and taught school for three years, two of them at Wrangell, AK, before earning a M.A. from the Berkeley Baptist divinity school in 1929. Later that year she went to Burma as a missionary-teacher for the Baptist Church. She married Baptist missionary Walter Leroy Keyser on Feb. 14, 1935, at Mandalay, Burma.
